Responsibilities
The Employer Relations team within the Career Management Group develops and strengthens partnerships with local, national and international employers, thereby maximizing engagement and increasing opportunities for students.
As head of Employer Relations, this role will set the employer engagement strategy and lead a team that builds and stewards partnerships with companies, alumni, and key stakeholders to strengthen recruiting pipelines and expand opportunities across all MBA programs. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, this role will serve on the CMG leadership team and directly manage employer relations professionals, including managers, while partnering closely with Haas leadership and key stakeholders. Success will be reflected in measurable employer engagement outcomes and a high-performing team with clear goals and accountability.
Guides, directs, and manages unit(s) charged with identifying, building, nurturing and maintaining effective relationships with alumni and employers. 20%
Leads strategy for Employer Relations in support of all MBAs.
Tracks industry trends, shares updates with students and staff, and adapts programs and staffing models to support rapidly changing needs of marketplace and student interests.
Develops innovative approaches to support domestic and international student hiring.
Plans, develops and implements alumni outreach programs including regional programs. 20%
Designs and implements a proactive strategy to build employer relationships across industry and geography.
Develops and executes Hire Haas program, business development strategy and overall metrics and goals for Employer Relations.
Tracks and actively leads outreach by team to employer partners for participation in rankings.
Builds / maintains excellent working relationships with key internal and external partners, typically at the highest level, including arranging meetings, events, campus leaders or other opportunities to showcase the institution and serving as a strong advocate for institutional goals and objectives. 15%
Works closely with the Director of Corporate Partnerships to support engagement and fundraising strategies in partnership with Employer Relations.
Works directly with Development & Alumni Relations, Marketing Communications and other key Haas Leadership.
Works closely with senior campus administration and other relevant contacts to develop and implement effective strategic plans that promote, advocate for and highlight achievements, activities and programs of the campus. 5%
Selects, trains, leads, directs, and motivates staff, taking corrective action as necessary. 25%
Serves on the leadership team for the Career Management Group, actively contributing to group strategy & decision making.
Supervises several others on the team, including Directors also in leadership roles.
Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation to achieve ambitious goals.
Ensures operational excellence on the team in managing day-to-day processes and procedures, systems, events, and logistics.
Provides comprehensive budget administration. 5%

Strong comprehensive knowledge of relevant alumni and other key constituencies including their composition and primary goals / objectives.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal communication and leadership skills, including attentive listening, and the skill to think quickly and respond appropriately.
Strong skills in advocating for and representing and/or ability to learn how to advocate and represent the institution to its various publics.
Strategic planning skills.
Leadership / management skills, including skills to lead, direct, mentor, evaluate and motivate staff.
Strong skills in understanding constituency needs as related to institutional needs and skills in designing solutions or strategies to achieve consensus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Preferred Qualifications
Strong, thorough and in-depth knowledge of and/or ability to learn the campus including short and long range strategic plans, vision, goals, objectives, infrastructure, programs, achievements and awards.
Strong knowledge of management principles, including personnel and budget administration and advanced skill in implementing effective personnel and budget operations and practices.
Strong analytical, negotiation and political acumen skills.
Education / Training
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required)
Master’s degree in a related area, MBA (Preferred)
Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly at an annual rate and is eligible for UC Benefits.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $115,800.00 – $168,100.00.
