Employee Benefits Advisor (Small Business Sales)
Custom Benefit Consultants (CBC) is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Advisor to support and grow our small business client base (2–200 employees).
This role is ideal for a licensed health & life professional with experience in employee benefits — including quoting, renewals, account management, or small group sales within a brokerage or agency environment.
This is a consultative role: CBC advisors help employers evaluate plan options, funding strategies, and benefit programs that support their employees and business goals, backed by a dedicated operations, compliance, and quoting team.

Compensation
Base salary: $24.04-$28.84 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus monthly bonus and residual commission opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Consult with small businesses (2–200 employees) on employee benefit strategies
- Prospect and develop new employer relationships
- Prepare and present medical and ancillary benefit proposals
- Quote and market plans through Zywave CPQ, carriers, and marketplace platforms
- Advise employers on plan options, funding structures, and renewal strategies
- Support enrollments through Employee Navigator and carrier systems
- Work closely with CBC’s service, compliance, and operations teams to ensure smooth implementation and ongoing client support
- Maintain accurate pipeline and activity tracking in HubSpot CRM
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Life & Health Insurance License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- 2+ years of experience in employee benefits or an insurance brokerage environment — experience limited to Medicare or individual health insurance sales does not meet this requirement without group benefits background
- Familiarity with group medical, dental, vision, life, and ancillary benefits
- Strong communication and consultative relationship skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred:
- Experience working with small employer groups (2–200 employees)
- Experience with benefit renewals, quoting, and marketing
- Experience with self & level funded plans
- Familiarity with Employee Navigator, Zywave, Ease, or similar benefit platforms
Professionals currently working as Benefits Account Managers or Benefits Specialists who want to transition into a sales role are strongly encouraged to apply.
