FAQs for Candidates
1. What is JDPreferred.com?
JDPreferred.com is a specialized job board for law graduates and JD holders seeking nontraditional legal and law-adjacent careers.
We focus on JD Preferred and JD Advantage positions in areas such as compliance, contracts, policy, real estate, risk management, healthcare, finance, technology, government, and business. Traditional attorney positions are generally excluded.
The site typically features thousands of openings across the United States. We source jobs primarily from company career sites and applicant tracking systems, then filter, clean, categorize, and review them to identify opportunities relevant to our audience. Listings remain on JDPreferred.com for a maximum of 30 days and are removed sooner if they are identified as expired or no longer active.
2. How does JDPreferred.com source its job listings?
JDPreferred.com sources job listings primarily from employers’ own career websites and the applicant tracking system (ATS) platforms companies use to publish and manage their openings. Our sourcing network covers more than 200,000 employer career sites across dozens of recruiting platforms.
Rather than building our job database from scraped copies of listings on LinkedIn or Indeed (platforms that may restrict or prohibit scraping under their terms of service), we focus on upstream, employer-published sources.
We then filter, clean, categorize, and review these listings to identify relevant JD Preferred and JD Advantage opportunities.
3. How does JDPreferred.com keep job listings current?
We check for expired jobs daily and remove listings that are identified as closed or no longer active. Because employers can change or close openings at any time, an expired listing may occasionally remain on the site temporarily.
Listings remain on JDPreferred.com for a maximum of 30 days and are removed sooner if they are identified as expired or no longer active.
By sourcing primarily from employer career sites and applicant tracking systems, we also reduce reliance on copied or reposted listings that may already be outdated or duplicated elsewhere.
4. What is the difference between JD Preferred and JD Advantage jobs?
JD Preferred jobs expressly state that a JD, law degree, or legal education is preferred, beneficial, a plus, or otherwise valued.
JD Advantage jobs do not expressly request a JD, but the responsibilities suggest that legal training may provide an advantage. These roles often involve contracts, regulatory compliance, policy, investigations, governance, risk, or complex analysis.
JDPreferred.com uses these classifications to organize listings and help candidates search and filter opportunities based on the role of legal education in the position.
5. Do I need a JD to use JDPreferred.com?
No. Anyone may use the site, but the listings are primarily selected for JD holders and law graduates seeking careers outside traditional legal practice.
Some opportunities may also be suitable for experienced professionals in compliance, contracts, policy, risk management, real estate, government affairs, and related fields.
6. How do I apply for a job?
Select the Apply Externally button on the job listing. This will direct you to the employer’s career website or applicant tracking system where you can apply directly.
Applications are submitted directly to the employer. JDPreferred.com does not accept applications, maintain candidate profiles, or submit applications on your behalf.
7. Is there a fee to search for jobs?
